What is (OBA)?

What is Outcome Based Assessment (OBA)?

After your initial application for registration, NMBA may advise you to undergo a detailed evaluation process called Outcome-Based Assessment (OBA). OBA consists of two critical examinations. One is a multiple-choice examination (MCQ), and the other is an Objective structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

Multiple choice examination (MCQ)

The Registered Nurse MCQ Examination is coordinated and delivered by Pearson VUE using the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses

Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE)

The Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) is the second essential prerequisite for overseas qualified nurses to gain AHPRA’s Nursing registration. It is structured to assess and evaluate participants, skills, knowledge and competence to meet the Nursing and Midwifery board’s standards of practice. AHPRA conducts it at their dedicated simulation environment in Adelaide, South Australia.
